Follow up Kindie Podcasts (10 minutes) Cindy, Amy, Ann, Greg, and Karen
Cindy, Amy, Ann, and Greg are collaborating on a project with Kindie teachers. Cindy, Amy, and Karen will be helping organizing a study team for Kindergarten teachers who are interested. The group can't be too large but will need some focused time to work on this project. Action research project there will be collecting of data. Don't know too many details about numbers of students, teachers, cost, dates, etc. Just in the brainstorming mode. Suggestion made to inquire about funds for this project beyond capital reserve. Can e-mail names of possible teacher participants to Amy and Cindy. Paul offered assistance in both gathering data and assisting with help session days. Data, data, data. Let Karen and Jane know if you have Kindergarten teachers who are good canidates for this project so that they can facilitate conversations at building tech planning meetings with principals, SAS's, coaches, and coordinators. Expectations checklist for participants upfront.
Greg and Highline... money is available, ELA focus, spelling , Houghton Mifflin readers with vocabulary, first through fifth. Working on the nitty gritty, nuts and bolts, program will start this summer. UnitedStreaming video clips for students to frontload science concepts (information about moving unitedstreaming content to iPods on their site). Written forms to show work at home. Copyright contact Houghton Mifflin... haven't yet. Hopeful about permissions. Using Keynote to create content (found this was easier than PowerPoint. Looking for a doctoral student from DU who could look at the data about iPods and ELA. sidenote... SmartBoards 11 (at least 1 per grade level).
Ann... Village East (ElA students), working wtih 2 ELA teachers who are working toward technology integration and ELA content, creating "critical mass" of technology in classrooms: 4 laptops, document camera, SmartBoard, printer, digital camers, 4 iPods (video). Working with Lori Marietta to "showcase" possibilies (April 9th), opening classrooms to observation next year, using the "critical mass" classrooms as a core and having those teachers inform and teach other teachers and move the idea out to other classrooms<school<other schools<district.
and Eastridge (collaborating with other schools/coaches sooooo important), iChat with teacher in Nebraska who is already using iPods with ELA kiddos.
Meetings for next year: alike and different CONTINUING ON MARCH 17TH (30 minutes) Karen and Jane
* At least 2 times a month, 3 Mondays out of 4 a month preferred, if it is a track on day we might be meeting in the afternoon, do not schedule any school meetings on Coach meeting day but absences due to track off/vacation, illness okay
*Start time... 8:15 for coach meetings really.... 8:15 to 11:15
*Start time for workshops 7:45 just like participants.. not 8:00 nor 8:15 if you are not going to be there it is your responsibility to let both your people know and the coordinators know, Coordinators will be e mailing Agendas prior to workshop and asking for help if it is needed at that workshop.
Process of the meeting... Alex suggests dividing meeting with broader purposes for coaching meetings in general
Categories could inclue:
Paul: (calendars, events, workshops) (best practices and learning, leadership,) (coaching, collaboration),
Alex: informational, feedback (gather some data).
Jane: Informational, Professional Development, Conversation
Keep the agenda process building the same, keep the facilitator process the same
If you put something on the Agenda, pose a question, ask other groups to have a conversation with us... how will that be covered? (your responsibility to choose). Fishbowl, discussion, Think, pair, share, etc.
Some time allotted to professional development at each meeting
Right and responsibility to bring ideas to the "table"

Update from Joel on the Technology Council
Check the uploaded document below. "World Class" is our new term. Trying to get rid of "silos". Ben will change some of the wording in the document below to reflect that it applies both to staff and students. Currently, it could read just students even though its intent is to serve/affect both teachers and students.
