          Next years' C4T applications will go out to schools

          It's up to schools to submit 2 applications for any certified teachers who have daily instruction contact with students

C4T'S Upgrading to Leopard

          At Winter C4T there will be a session to introduce it ...  C4T's may get DVD's from their school SAS's or Coaches

          * Recommend that C4T's back-up first.  The install will take about 50 minutes.

          * Upgrading is an option.

 

          Upgrading to iLife 08

          * C4T's may choose to upgrade to iLife 08.  They need to get the disc from their school SAS.

             HOWEVER, they need to know that it will look different and that iLife CIS classes will be offered using iLife 06 this school year.

 

Meeting with Ken and Donna

    Amy and Ann met with Ken and Donna on Jan 10.

    Amy went through the dock and explained various programs and applications that we use and how we use them.

 

Explained blogs and wikis and how they are used by staff and teachers.

 

Explained how and why we use Firefox so much.

 

They always include "Jingles" when they make an image when including GarageBand3

 

 

Many staff are still confused about why all programs won't work on all machines..... i.e. GarageBand 3 .... and then route personal are caught in the middle as the older machines can't handle some programs and some don't have enouh licenses. We need to continue to communicate this with teachers as we work with them.

 

The tech route guys are in charge of hardware. Ken and Donna do servers and images. Idea is to release the responsibility to building people.

Mobile Accounts, Shared folders on the server, student individual accounts, my home

Audacity, Inspiration, Kidspiration, Office, Comic Life, Safari, Fire Fox, Tux Paint, First Class and any other server based apps, and an apps folder

 

Shared folders- Ken and Donna are more than happy to create them if you let them know and who has access and how they are to be used.

 

Would love to have a "starter image" for all schools.

 

Donna and Ken would love us to collaborate on how servers should be set up and what works well for teachers and staffs.

 

Would love to come to a ooaches meeting to continue the conversation.
