SMART Board update:Karen

• We're creating a video to thank Morgridegs- Karen asked for names of interviewees
• We received our award for round 2
  • Karen presented to grant committee
  • 10 new schools/districts have been added
  • Got 100% of funding
  • $231,837.00
  • Granted our proposal for 70 teachers
  • We need get the funding for installation
  • Round 1 will get moveable boards and mount and their boards will go to MS
  • Need to do board and mount together so they align
  • ceiling mount is 3-4 hours
  • using CCS as installer
  • cables- VGA will come with it.
  • by end of spring break . hopefully all will be in
  • nothing definite is decided for round 3

Troubleshooting hints for the Blogs  (Jane and Jim)

There is a huge difference between site admin and admin.

• When you are in site admin (global, whole district) you can:
  • change a password
  • add a new user
  • add yourself to another person's blog

Tips

• We have OT log in so we can do some of the troubleshooting that Jane and Jim are being contacted on
• Tabs at the top are blogs that we are registered for
• Site admin: CCSD Edublogs tab -> site admin tab -> search for someone's blog -> click on the link to the person's blog -> users -> add your email -> add yourself as an administrator
• You can also search for users -> click on his blog-> and add yourself there (add a new user) as the admin.  This route has fewer steps.
• we can change passwords for teachers using the site admin
• be careful if you say save password that it doesn't auto fill other boxes
• make sure they change nick name to FIRST name only -> update -> choose display name from drop down in "display name publicly as" to the new nick name

 New kid:

• To find a new kid:

• Check power school
• directory in First Class
• For kids who have apostrophe...
  • contact Glew Owens to create a new alias
• Go into CCSD edublogs tab -> Users (NOT create a new user) -> blog and user creator -> advanced ->fill out first three blocks : user name, user email, enter the school password for user password which is listed in the blog direction sheet -> scroll to the bottom and click on update

Misc:

• 20 mg file upload limitbut you can put up unlimited number of files
  • if someone hits a limit, contact Jim.....
• Cluster Map:
  • design -> cluster map
  • based on IP address of the computer being used.
  Avatars:
• Are a bit hit and miss... some are working, some not.

Imbed a podcast:

• Write post-> add media -> add video -> choose file to upload ->  insert into post

Imbed a Voice Thread

• In share in Vt go to embed-> copy the code -> go to HTML -> paste the code
• If it's private they will need the passwordModerating comment:

Comment moderation

• settings -> discussion -> you can choose the settings you want for comment moderation

Professional Learning

How can we incorporate more PD in our meetings as we had intended?

• do we need to move it up on our agenda?
• feels like we have done a lot on tools but not on the craft
• need to do it and stop talking about it....

• Attended the "Wake up to Data" meetiing

• How can we more easily access / consolidate the data?
• Is this beyond our scope.....

• where are we on the district web site for content management?
• Karen will talk to Dave about the status of the district web site
• we can add "how to's " to the TLT guide- Joel will start this process
