>  Professional Learning/Development (Our Coaching Roles)

  •  Discussion of Mary's coaches presentation and creation of questions for her visit

Mary referred to T1 and T2 as something that she might follow up on for our next meeting.   (We are not sure what that is.)

She also referred to mental maps as a tool to use in coaching   ( i.e. planning, reflecting, conflict from Cognitive coaching)

                   Ideas:

Could we explore additional models to use? ... perhaps about process (cognitive coaching) and content (models like 5 States of Mind, Marzano, differentiation, , etc)

We decided to ask Mary about coaching strategies to support the Teaching/Learning Cycle.

Instruction (Teaching/Learning Cycle, Curriculum, Best Practices, Equity, Rigor

1.Brainstorming/Discussion of our Goals with Dave facilitating

Dave offered  "in the spirit of sharing" to use the department goals - Dave's goals for us to collaborate around those goals for each of us to write our own action goals.

        Framework for World Class Instruction:

Ensure that all teachers and supervisors understand the components of the Cherry Creek Instructional Framework and utilize it to improve teaching and learning.

      * Action ideas:   Professional Learning about this document related to coaching - i.e. inviting Mary Johnson to give us a better understanding of how our coaching work can support the Teaching and Learning Cycle.

Curriculum - Integrate 21st Century Skills into the Guaranteed and Viable Curriculum:

            * Action Ideas: Our Office should take the lead to define, provide resources, provide ways to implement 21st century skills in the classroom curriculum

       Assessment

  • Provide all teachers with electronic access to large-scale assessment data.
  • Ensure that appropriate staff are trained to interpret large-scale assessment data and use that information in planning for instruction.
  • Identify key indicators of post-secondary readiness and report progress toward the district goals of Excellence and Equity.
Instruction
  • Make training in Assessment for Learning available to all teachers.

             * Action Ideas: Provide a variety of opportunities for all teachers to learn about and implement Culturally Responsive Instruction within our instruction, coaching

          * Action Ideas:  As a group, what can we do to be more informed about formative assesment? What can we do to support teachers (with or without technology) to help teachers

2. Action Plans Commenting/Questioning    Draft due to Google docs by Sept 19th
